Meet the Staff Ministry Team
Joshua Mifflin
Pastor of Family Ministries
About me
Hey, so great to meet you! I've called Anderson home since the age of eight, and I'm a graduate of Highland High School, Anderson University, and AU School of Theology and Christian Ministry. Over the past 15 years, I've served as an intern and ministry volunteer with Church at the Crossing in Indianapolis, a director at Camp Challenge in Bedford, and as the youth pastor with the Church of God in Eaton, IN. I came to Park Place in 2018 as the church's interim youth pastor, and in February 2019, I joined the pastoral staff here full time. As the Pastor of Family Ministries, I oversee all ministry areas for nursery/preschool, kids, and youth – everything from cradle to college.
Bottom line though, I'm your student's youth pastor, and I love my job!
What I like to do in my free time
I enjoy hiking, following soccer (especially MLS), watching Star Wars and Marvel movies, laughing with friends until it hurts, driving with the windows down listening to the perfect playlist, cuddling with my rescue dogs, making a well-balanced taco that totally slaps, popping bubble wrap, and listening to Taylor Swift on vinyl.
What movie I wish I could watch again for the first time
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. I know it's not the best movie of the franchise, but the experience of it coming out as an 11 year old was amazing, and I'd love to relive that again.
My zombie apocalypse team made up of one sitcom character, one Marvel or DC superhero, one athlete (past or current), one music artist or band, and one famous person from history
Nick Miller from New Girl
Deadpool
Muhammed Ali
Billie Eilish
Sacagawea
The best decade of music (between the 80s, 90s, or 00s)
Why did I create such an impossible question? I think I'm gonna have to go with 00s.
My favorite thing about working with teenagers
They are SO goofy! I love their energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and their passion for making the world a better place.
How I hope to see our students grow this semester
My hope is that – above everything – every student feels safe and loved at Park Place Youth. No matter where they're at or where they're coming from, I hope they grow in their understanding about God, their community, and their identity as a child of God.
The person who has influenced my life the most
My mom and dad (I know, I know. That's two people, but I'm gonna let it slide.)
